Swimsuit Sewing: How to’s and guides
I have sewn skirts, dresses, shorts, and a garment bag but I have yet to venture into the swimsuit sewing world. There are different techniques and materials and so much stretchy fabric that I am a little intimidated to get started. So I gathered up a few guides from around the web to help me out on this new venture. Lots of tips and tricks on how to make the first swimsuit beach worthy.
How to Sew a Swimsuit 101
First up, one of my favorite sites to go to for patterns is Seamwork. Most of the patterns I have are from them and they are very beginner friendly. They also are a Portland-based business so that makes me love them more! If you like videos that have made a great one!
Second, another favorite site for sewing information is Spoonflower. They are my go-to for fabrics with fun and unique fabrics. I am a seller on Spoonflower as well so, I may be a little biased!
Spoonflower: The Ins and outs of Sewing Swimsuits
And third, Helens Closet Patterns - this guide gives you the basics of sewing swimsuits plus some things I did not know to consider but that makes total sense, (sizing of stretch knits is…different). And they have a podcast. I found the swimsuit sewing episode and linked it below.
